- The Child Development Associate (CDA) National Credentialing Program was established in the early 1970′s to enhance the quality of child care by defining, evaluating, and recognizing the competence of child care providers.
CDA Candidates complete an assessment process by which a caregiver’s competence is evaluated in 5 ways:
- The Professional Resource File
- The Parent Opinion Questionnaires
- The CDA Assessment Observation Instrument
- The Early Childhood Studies Review
- The Oral Interview

- CDA Preparation Course: a course in a classroom setting designed to assist CDA Candidates in the entire CDA process.
